In the fall when crops are ready to harvest, combines dot the landscape from early morning until late at night. As storm clouds gathered in the west, my friend, Steve, and his harvest crew were pushing to finish cutting this field of soybeans. Guiding the massive machine along the side hills, Steve knows moisture can do more than stop the harvest; it can put the ripened grain at risk. It’s not just about his livelihood, it’s about growing the grain needed for food, feed, fiber and fuel in America and for countries around the world.
