Hard work, long days, early mornings, and late evenings; these broken boots tell a story. In the beginning, they were shiny, polished, and stiff. They were standard attire at church, an evening in town, neighborhood gatherings, and maybe even a dance or two. Set aside for those special occasions off the ranch.
Eventually the new wore off and they shifted to daily-use work wear. The foundation for the owner, they provided protection from the elements, thistles on fence lines, and snakes the grass. They fit the stirrup of a saddle just right. They were just as comfortable running the clutch of a tractor or the accelerator of his pickup truck.
They sit on the dash of an old truck facing inward. A beautiful reminder their job is done.
