Pigs are intelligent and inquisitive animals. Each has its own personality and quirks. Some pigs crave attention waiting by the fence to have their ears scratched. Others, not as fond of attention, are happy just hanging out in the back of their pen. The piglet in this image was curious. He wanted to get closer, but was a bit put off by the camera lens. Given time, he inched forward and always kept one eye on the photographer. As can be the case with humans, I had to have his trust before he would relax and allow me to shoot his image.
Winston S. Churchill said it best, “I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”
